The Hatchet, 2011, is Online!

The long awaited first issue of The Hatchet: A Journal of Lizzie Borden & Victorian America is online for sale to subscribers.

In this issues is the first and only long-form interview with Michael Martins and Dennis Binette on the writing of Parallel Lives: A Social History of Fall River and Her Fall River.

In addition, we have essays on growing up in the Flint area of Fall River (and the plethora of city saloons) by Michael Brimbau, a piece on the Cogswell fountains and their connection to the Temperance Movement of the 19th century, two fantastic works of fiction—a new Lizzie Borden: Girl Detective story by Richard Behrens titled “The Agitated Elocutionist” and a new work by David Marshall James “Mesdemoiselles of French Street in “The Forgotten Note”. Kat Koorey presents her remarkable research into Jack the Ripper, an essay not to be missed.

Mondo Lizzie Borden, Episode 7: NOT Lizzie Borden

Being a collector of the weird and fabulous as it relates to the Borden case, I have files of these images saved during the past twenty years. And I would like to share them with you now. Laugh, gasp, chuckle, or rage, these photos were all on eBay. For a price. I used to write the sellers and let them know they didn’t have a Lizzie, but soon gave up on that practice. They didn’t care. Even though they were committing fraud by the sale of the image as a true Lizzie Borden. Oh well.
