The images on the following pages add a new chapter to the narrative, but by no means finish the story. They are merely glimpses into a bygone age of innocence, before the world ever heard of Lizzie, Emma, John, Andrew, or Sarah. Before the crimes focused our attention on this otherwise anonymous New England family.
Buried in a document that was highlighted in the Heritage Museum’s blog were the words, “Over 100 historical artifacts exhibited, including . . . a letter from Lizzie Borden . . .”

According to the photographer’s imprint on its reverse, the carte-de-visite (CDV) of Emma Borden was photographed at the Melville Sumner studio, when it was located at 5 S. Main Street, Fall River, Massachusetts.
